THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM
The Torch school adopts the 6-3-3-4 educational structure as approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and respects all school curriculum regulatory policies put in place by Lagos State Government. However, we pay so much attention to the brochure/curriculum of relevant exam bodies so as to enhance students’ performance in their certificate examinations.
BASIC EDUCATION
The School offers pre-school classes from Crèche to Nursery classes. Successful children in academic performance and at least six (6) years old will be allowed to proceed to Basic One class of the primary school section.
THE JUNIOR SCHOOL
All student seeking admission into Junior Secondary must have completed Basic education from the Primary section of the school or any approved Nursery & Primary School. In addition, he/she must not be less than 12 years in the year in which admission is being sought. Admission is based on performance at an entrance examination (Computer based) and at an interview.
We offer the following subjects at the Junior School level;
- English Language.
- Agricultural Science.
- Business Studies
- Computer Studies
- French Language
- Home Economics
- Creative Arts
- Integrated Science
- Music
- Introductory Technology
- Physical and Health Education
- Religious Studies (Christian or Islamic)
- Social Studies
- One major Nigerian Language (Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo).
Continuous Assessment is an integral part of this system of Cumulative Evaluation. Certificates are awarded at the completion of the Junior School Programme based on performance of students in the Junior School Certificate Examinations conducted by the National Examinations Council and Lagos State Ministry of Education in line with the National Policy on Education.
THE SENIOR SCHOOL
Transition from Junior Secondary to the Senior Secondary School is not automatic. Before any student is promoted into senior classes, He/She must have satisfactorily passed certain subjects in the Junior School Certificate Examinations to be able to select relevant subject combination or subject group in the senior school class.
Subject to vacancy, student from junior secondary of other schools may be admitted into senior classes on merit based on prescribed test, interview and other conditions to be prescribed by the Board of Trustees from time to time
The Senior Secondary Curriculum is comprehensive. All students must offer CORE subjects which include:
GROUP A
- English language
- One major Nigerian Language (Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo).
- Mathematics
- One of the following alternative subjects (Physics, Biology, chemistry)
- One of literature-in-English, History or Geography.
- Agricultural Science or a Vocational Subject.
GROPU B
Other subjects include the following electives

Certificate of the Senior Secondary level will be based on both Continuous Assessment and Final Examination conducted by the West African Examinations Council or National Examinations Council leading to the award of the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSC).
